I had been searching for years for a convenient, lightweight, versatile, and durable painting support... I found it with Multimedia Artboard, and I have been using it since 1993.
I've run my own long-term independent research on its archival qualities, testing it side-by-side with primed cotton canvas and hardboards of every type- Multimedia Artboard outperforms them all! Yours is a superior product!
When artists travel to Mars, they should be carrying Multimedia Artboard... if you need an endorsement- you have mine!

I began using Multimedia Art Board almost twenty years ago. As a plein air painter I was looking for something light and thin because I paint about 20 field studies a week when I am on the road. It has proved admirable beyond my expectations. Using Alkyd and oil paints, pictures are dry overnight and can be stacked without partitions or inter layering. But the greatest advantage has proved to be its absorbency. The first layer soaks into the board and, with the surplus wiped off, provides a luminous underpainting with a distinctive texture. I can then apply thick paint without disturbing what’s underneath and so can do a layered painting at one sitting. This has been a great advantage in doing studies for portraits when the sitter’s time is limited or transient subjects such as flowers.

"I have used Multimedia Artboard for various projects in most media - oils, acrylics, ink and watercolors. I am impressed with the fact that it takes all media so well. It is truly a universal surface."

"Multimedia Artboard has a nice tooth to it without being overly textured. The ability to hold up to the applications of washes, scumbling, stamps, airbrush and other treatments is amazing to me, especially considering there is no breakdown in the surface. It can take adhesives and manipulations with acrylic sheeting, metal findings and natural additions of shells, pearls and such with no buckling or breaking of the surface. The texture is conducive to metal leafing. Things like alcohol or mineral spirits on the artboard have no ill response. Multimedia Artboard responds well to cutting with X-acto as well as an occasional run through a scroll saw. Can't ask for more than that in a material."

"In 30 years, as a pastel artist, I have tried dozens of surfaces. Multimedia Artboard is tough, lightweight and archival. Perfect for mixed media effects with acrylic that I use in my painting. I can easily apply sanded surfaces to the board or use it just as it is. It is easy to ship, carry, story and frame. Multimedia Artboard is an excellent plein air surface as it comes in many convenient sizes."

"I really love the product. This is by far the best surface I have found to date. It fits perfectly with the way I like to create my art - the possibilities are endless."

Over a dozen years ago I began using Multimedia Artboard on which to create my collages. I needed a surface which would not warp when used with acrylic medium, which would have the body to withstand forceful brushing and upon which I could use an exacto knife to cut excess paper without cutting through the support. The standard sizes of the board offers me a good variety, and the Artboard is easy to cut with a mat knife if I wish to use a different proportion than the standard sizes. Knowing that special orders are possible has been important to me in applying for public art projects. Recently, I had two pieces damaged in shipping to a gallery out of state. Tom from Multimedia Artboard, worked with the framer of the gallery, via phone, to advise them on ways to work with the Artboard to repair the effects of the damage. The pieces were saved and I am very grateful customer.

I have been using the Multimedia Artboard for a number of years. I especially like it because the paint glides on beautifully, giving the colors translucency. I can use oil paints and also casein ( which dilutes with water), and I use both media. It is light and easy to transport, but above all I am now so accustomed to the results on it that I do not like to paint any more on canvas or wood.

I enjoy using Multimedia Artboard because of the clarity of color when using acrylics. The usual darkening of acrylics when dry seems to be less noticeable. It is lightweight and has enough texture to be a pleasure to work with. My style has changed over the last few years and I have been using a more textural approach in my painting and your product can take my scrubbing techniques. Smaller sizes are easy to carry and work great for plein air studies. Best of all it is great to know I am using an archival support.
I have mainly been using Multimedia Artboard for smaller pieces and preliminary studies because it was so time consuming to mount finished pieces on foam or artboard. I am very pleased to see that you have added artist panels mounted on acid-free foam core and also on tempered hardboard. When I make my next purchase I will be giving them a try.
